INCLUSION WORKSHOPS

Effectively Including Children with Autism Spectrum Disorders

The growing number of children diagnosed each year with Autism Spectrum Disorders requires that youth service workers be skillful in both understanding the range of behaviors these children present, and how to best manage these behaviors.   Educators and school staff are on the front lines but often are not adequately prepared to manage these challenges. Autism Spectrum Disorders are challenging because of the complexity, severity, and idiosyncratic nature of behavioral challenges that affect these children.  This workshop will cover tools for successfully structuring programs which acknowledge special interests, establish routines, reinforce self-control, and address sensory sensitivity in order ensure that children with autism spectrum disorders can be included successfully.
